Grammy Nominations 2023 : Here are the nominees for the 2023 Grammy Awards

The Grammy Nominations 2023 are out and some major starts are going head-to-head for some of the biggest awards of the night. Here are the nominees for the 2023 Grammy Awards

The 65th Grammy Awards announced their nominees on Tuesday, Nov. 15, and based on how things currently stand, the ceremony on Feb. 5, 2023, is expected to be one of the most illustrious occasions in recent music history. The Grammy nominations 2023 showed just how incredible the previous twelve months of music were after a nomination period that included albums from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Adele, Bad Bunny, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, and more.

The 2022 Grammys were, in a sense, a return to the status quo after a COVID-affected ceremony that prioritized performances in 2021. Jon Batiste eventually won Album of the Year during the ceremony, which was moved to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s This is Us triumphed over Justin Bieber’s Justice, Doja Cat’s Planet Her, Taylor Swift’s Evermore, Kanye West’s Donda, H.E.R.’s Back Of My Mind, Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever, Lil Nas X’s Montero, Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, and Doja Cat and Doja Cat’s Planet Her (Love For Sale). With “Leave The Door Open,” Silk Sonic won Record and Song of the Year, and Olivia won Best New Artist.

There were a lot of well-known winners at the Grammy Awards in 2022, including Louis CK, who won the Best Comedy Album award for Sincerely Louis CK (Louis was nominated again, BTW). One concern going into the nominations was whether the Recording Academy would embrace Kanye “Ye” West’s 2022 album, Donda 2, with an equally open-armed embrace in light of his recent antisemitism. Even though Ye posted a video in 2020 showing him peeing on one of his trophies, making it clear what he thinks about the Grammys? Evidently not. Kanye was excluded from the Rap category, which could mean that he was either overlooked or that his album wasn’t submitted.
