Amber Riley is the first celebrity to win both ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and ‘The Masked Singer.’

Amber Riley became the winner of the eighth season of The Masked Singer on Wednesday night, making reality TV history. The actress made history by becoming the first celebrity to win both the singing competition and “Dancing with the Stars.” In 2013, she and her partner Derek Hough won the Mirrorball Trophy.

Amber Riley was revealed to be Harp, the season’s first performer and the last one standing. Throughout the weeks, she played Pink’s “Perfect,” Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing,” “Thank You For Being a Friend” from “The Golden Girls,” Lizzo’s “About Damn Time,” Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory,” and John Mayer’s “Gravity.” In the finale, she defeated the Lambs, who were revealed to be the singing trio Wilson Phillips.

Riley told “The Masked Singer” host Nick Cannon after her win, “This has been such an amazing experience.” “To be able to come out here and be completely covered and let my talent speak for itself is a dream come true.” And my love for people, and my desire for people to heal and feel what I’m singing. So I hope everyone felt my soul because I bared it here on stage.”

This year, Wayne Brady was vying for the same honor. After winning “The Masked Singer” as Fox in Season 2, he and partner Witney Carson made it all the way to the “Dancing With the Stars” finale this year. The pair finished third, trailing winner Charli D’Amilio (with Mark Ballas) and runner-up Gabby Windey (with Val Chmerkovskiy).

Although no one had ever won both shows before Riley, a select few had claimed victory in one but failed to close the deal in the other. Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy won the Season 20 Mirrorball Trophy, but she was eliminated after her semifinal performance as Lion in the first season of “The Masked Singer.” Donny Osmond won Season 9 of “DWTS” with partner Kym Johnson, but fell short of winning Season 1 of “The Masked Singer” as Peacock. He came in second place to Monster (T-Pain).

Nick Lachey won the Golden Mask as Piglet on Season 5 of “The Masked Singer,” but he struggled on “DWTS,” finishing ninth on Season 25. There are no other winners from one show who competed on the other, but there are a couple of intriguing relationships. Teyana Taylor, who won “The Masked Singer” Season 7 as Firefly, is married to “DWTS” Season 30 winner Iman Shumpert. Scherzinger won “DWTS” Season 10 and has been a panelist on “The Masked Singer” for all eight seasons.
